Prema Maia Apolonia

Prema_Maia Dr. Prema Maia Apolonia is a contemplative artist, poet, musician, and performer. Her creative work has been featured in calendars, websites, albums, and publications including the award-winning books of Dr. Judith Cornell. Since 1996, Prema has taught a nondual approach to sacred arts as a form of spiritual awakening and expression.

Since 1998 Prema has also worked closely with spiritual teacher Adyashanti, and has played a foundational role in the development of Open Gate Sangha, the organization that supports his teachings. Currently she fills the role of Creative Director where she works with wonderful community of people to produce Adyashanti's website and publications including books, CDs, and videos.

The Meaning of Shiva Lotus: In the Hindu tradition, Shiva represents the aspect of God that is pure consciousness--the essential nature of all things. The lotus flower symbolizes the divine expressing itself in form. The blossoming flower of pure consciousness (Shiva Lotus) is unmanifest divine energy expressing itself as the living richness and diversity of every moment.
